How the heck do I get better at using clipless pedals?

While it’s by no means comparable, I have no issue clipping in and out while on the Peloton. I understand how they should work. When it comes to using them on my bicycle I am absolutely incompetent. Needless to say, I have fallen while in place and that was maybe the most embarrassing thing I’ve experienced in a while.

It’s safe to say, until I find a way to use the clipless pedals, I’ll continue wearing sneakers on rides with others.
