This was one of my most prized possessions as a kid—right up until my sister stole it and traded it for a Cheese String at school.
That bitch!
fucking butt face booger muncher
Wanted on desperately but my parents said it was too expensive. I now suspect they thought I would be annoying with it.
This and one of those tiny portable tube tvs were my biggest purchasing ambitions.
Oh my God, yes those tiny TVs were the pinnacle of cool. It truly felt like you could be some sort of spy with all this cool tech.
When I was a kid I had one of those. My parents bought it from a TV repair store. It was a combination 6" TV, audio tape player, and am/fm radio.
It was about 2 feet by 2 feet and about 8 inches thick. It weighed about 20 pounds. It has a carry handle though so I guess it was “portable”…
They had even smaller ones, too. I remember seeing them in the Sears catalog.
I remember them looking sort of like this:
There was also the pen version.
I had both. The pen was legit
I remember this! I may have even had the pen version, but honestly it might be a false memory.
What is this? A different version of bop it?
It records sounds and you can play them back with effects if I remember right
The evolution of the talkboy
Loved my tallboy. What a sheltered gullible kid i was. Never managed to convince anyone i was an adult.
But it was fun, right? The Talkboy was peak 90s.
Kiiiiiiiiiids weeeeeere hooooooome
There’s an app: https://play.google.com/store/apps/details?id=com.grisu.yakbak
Well that was fun!
Relatable. You bet your ass if I ever find out who stole my Talkboy shit’s gonna go down.
Is your sister named Karen?
They later had versions that would distort your voice. I have no idea why my parents bought us those.
Hell yeah. I also somehow ended up with the voice distortion model and it was the best.
Pizza Hut gave away something like this as one of their toys. Loved it!
Never had one but I remember these!
