The quality of the song sequence is amazing. Interesting premise and I can’t wait to see more.
Super excited to see Aqours back on screen!
The first episode feels a bit slow, but it looks like it’s setting up for an interesting journey. I still have no idea what the rest of the show is going to be like. This episode was all Yoshiko (and a bit of Maru), and I can’t wait for everyone else to get more screen time.
Glad that they’re doing insert songs (it’s Love Live so of course they are). “Far far away” is pretty good, looking forward to seeing what’s next.
Sunshine is my favorite love live season, so I’m glad to finally have the squad back!
And big doggo ships Yoshimaru. Nice!
Solid episode, banger OP.
First of all, as a long time Love Live fan (since first SIP), I am once again amazed how far has this franchise come in terms of production quality – both animation and sound. Well deserved congratulations to Sunrise and Lantis for not only keeping Love Live alive all these years but also improving it.
As for the today’s episode, I like the setting. Weird mix of magic, this characteristic pseudo-medieval generic fantasy style, and modern technology like cars, trains, train station announcers etc. seems appealing to me, and nothing really felt out of place. Not much in terms of plot to talk about as for now.
Anyway, I wonder how it will be received by viewers who are not part of Love Live fandom.

It’s called urban fantasy.
Thanks, never heard that term.
*Anyway, I wonder how it will be received by viewers who are not part of Love Live fandom. * It’s me. I’ve never engaged with Love Live at all, and was unaware that this show was affiliated. I saw a new show on CR, so I gave it a shot. I really enjoyed it thinking it was a standalone show. I’m not normally one for idol shows, so knowing now that it’s part of a huge franchise, I wonder if things will stay small/localized. Definitely saw enough to keep watching though.
I like the modern/future-ish kinda fantasy setting. I guess that tends to be a relatively common JRPG setting,… also Shadowrun (except Shadowrun is more cyberpunk). Was kinda half-hoping the fantasy setting meant we’d get acoustic instrumental backing tracks, but this works too. I wonder if Yoko Hikasa being Laelaps means Laelaps gets to sing too [Sunshine S2]
spoiler
also, guess that dog name got ported over from the original series
