        In general, I think that if you’re not confident enough to upvote your own post, you shouldn’t post it in the first place.

      Yes. I think it is a conflict of interest to upvote my own post. Of course I think I contribute to the conversation, but that is not for me to decide.

        Everybody’s vote total is defaulted to 1. Nobody upvotes themselves. Removing your vote just makes it less likely people will see your comment.

        Everyone’s posts are upvoted by themselves by default, so by retiring your upvotes from your posts, you are, in practice, removing visibility from your posts, thus handicapping them, rather than giving them a fair shot.

      Lemmy doesn’t auto vote for your own comment/post. We aren’t that narcistic here. Every comment starts at 0.

      I can see on Kbin who upvoted even, and you didn’t upvote your comment.

      Edit: I’ve learned it varies by your portal!
