U.S. House of Representatives Democrats began collecting signatures on March 12 to bypass House Speaker Mike Johnson and force a vote on a Ukraine aid bill via a discharge petition, Reuters reported.
They had hoped a republican would start the vote. So they could have him champion it and it being bipartisan. Then the speaker told them they could write their own version of the bill and get more. This would require the adjusted bill to re-pass in the senate. So now the dems have to move.
