Any of y’all transfer on over to lemmy? I remember when I first found that subreddit, blew my mind that so many others used Futurama to fall asleep. I had found my people.

I have watched this show so many times. I could just close my eyes with the audio in the background narrating the scenes as I replay them in my mind. It would put me right to sleep haha. Almost like someone reading me my favorite bedtime story as a kid. I think the subreddit had 20k+ members before Reddit died. So we are definitely not alone.

I’ve been falling asleep to Futurama for so long I’ve conditioned my brain to it. I have trouble staying awake for th occasionally rewatch.

    I switch it around

Great list you have there for sleep shows. Another I enjoy is It’s Always Sunny in Philadelphia. May have to give some Star Trek a go, could see that being a good one.

I’m just hearing of Futurama sleeping now, but it makes perfect sense. Such a cozy show. I have fallen asleep to IASIP though.

We watch it before bed either to help us fall asleep or to drown out any sex noises. It’s conditioned me to either get sleepy or horny when I hear the theme music.

I fall asleep to an Italian dub of the show. I like to think it helps me learn the language.

Not me but my wife. If she is having trouble falling asleep I always remind her to play Futurama on her phone then she is out like a light in ~10 minutes.

Yup, everyday, but only the original 4 seasons. I have the audio ripped from my DVDs on my phone which just plays random episodes. No need to keep a screen on!

I don’t use it to fall asleep per se, but I do watch it to chill out late at night before bed. It brings me back to when I was a kid and would sneak into the living room to watch it late at night

I tried searching for a community when I first joined lemmy, admittedly that was only a couple days ago. However, I couldn’t find one. I think I struggle the most with this part of lemmy. The finding of communities feels a bit cumbersome to me and could be an area to improve upon. Don’t get me wrong, never going back to the sinking ship of Reddit. Thank you for sharing the link!

Yeah it’s a tricky one to fix because the federated nature of everything means there’s probably no instance that has every possible community indexed in search.

That’s where tools like browse.feddit.de come in but that’s a little bit finicky too and I’m not sure how things get indexed there.

Saw someone was building a more advanced search interface yesterday but I can’t remember the URL now, it looked promising though so will come back and update you when I find it!

P.s I didn’t post the link as some kind of passive aggressive thing I just thought you’d like to see it 😄

Didn’t take it that way at all! I appreciate you sharing it as I always enjoyed that subreddit. My first foray into the whole federated system of things, so it is a bit of a learning curve. Always happy for someone to share their experience to help develop my understanding and better utilize these platforms. I have used the browse feddit once before but agree it felt a bit finicky. Would be happy to try the other you’re talking of, so when you do find it please share!

I used to when I was younger, but I’ve stopped since. Having a screen on with sound is bad for sleep quality, I can’t recommend it.

I agree with the screen and sleep hygiene concerns. I do use it mostly on the nights the mind is racing with worries or stressors and I can’t fall asleep. When I do turn it on, I turn the screen over so I can’t see it and just hear the audio. Still may not be the best for sleep hygiene, but for me it is almost like a bedtime story for adults.

Yep. Haven’t been in the sub in a long time, but Futurama has been in our regular nighttime / fall asleep rotation since it was on AS many years ago (have all of the seasons ripped onto a Plex server now).
