Hi fellow lemmies/lemmurs/lemminos. As far as I understand, I, from lemmy.world, should be able to see the content of a community, it’s posts and comments, just as someone from lemmy.ml. However, in case of c/Serbia, these two instances peoduce a separate set of posts and comments. This shouldn’t be normal, right?
If there is a /c/Serbia in each instance then yes it’s normal to see separate sets of content. While they may be about the same topic, they are separate communities on different instances.
Damn, I didn’t know that. So there is no way for me to participate with the c/Serbia.lemmy.ml in any way from my instance? Sorry if this is a simple question…
There is. You need to subscribe to both and you will see these separately but you will see both. Take a look at the “address” of the community. If you see something like
Serbia
, then it’s local to your instance,Serbia@lemmy.ml
is community on lemmy.ml. In order to subscribe to the one on lemmy.ml, go to https://lemmy.world/c/serbia@lemmy.ml (in the future when having trouble, you can paste https://lemmy.ml/c/serbia into search on lemmy.world and it should find the community)However, if what you are observing is that the comment lists are different when viewed via your instance and via the instance it lives on(you can press the multicolor fediverse icon to open the direct link), then it is something weird that I also observe. I see that with time comments propagate, but for some topics/communities/(?) there is some lag to that
I’m also showing appreciation for the effort it took to explain this, much obliged.
Thank you for the detailed explanation. Much appreciated!
