I hate it when people are disrespecting food culture. Balut is not even genuine Chinese food. Silkworms are also eaten in Japan, Korea, somewhere in India etc.

I mean, it makes sense. If you make silk you’ll end up with lots of dead worms - that are edible. Might as well make them taste good and get a good meal out of it.
Same with the testicles. You have to castrate most of the male animals anyway. Why throw away food when hunger is always around the corner for most of history?
