Is there a disadvantage to ReVanced without root? Back in the Vanced days, I actually had less trouble with non-root on my OnePlus vs. rooted on my LG. I had to reinstall the rooted version every boot for some reason I never understood.

Not really. Root lets you completely replace the stock YouTube install and works without microG, but that’s about it iirc. And if you have the Play Store installed, you need to make sure it doesn’t try to “update” rooted Revanced and break things.

I prefer the non-root version, even on rooted devices.

No idea. As I root everything by default, I never checked what happens without root, lol. BTW, I didn’t use ReVanced for youtube, but for a different app.

With root, YouTube URLs will open in the app by default. Without root, they won’t. Otherwise, there’s not a huge difference.

Weird, I’ve never needed root to make that happen. I used to just disable the built-in YouTube and then set Vanced as the URL handler for YouTube URLs, and then they’d open in Vanced. Maybe that doesn’t work on every Android variant?

AppManager, Cod instance. But, you know what? Don’t root your devices. I’ll keep rooting mine just because I can.

I mean hey, anything’s better the iOS lol. I don’t think rooting is a good idea, but anyone running a custom aosp ROM is an ally of mine. We custom ROM users gotta stick together!
