Hey folks!
Lemmy 0.19 was released this week! It brings a bunch of awesome new features, so I hope you are all willing to forgive some downtime in order to upgrade to this latest version.
Unfortunately some migration will be necessary as part of this upgrade, so it might take a while, but I will try to keep it as short as possible.
I hope you are all having a great holiday period, and I will see you soon in 0.19!
Edit: Update complete!
Welcome to 0.19! Unfortunately, the upgrade took somewhat longer than usual, but I believe everything is in order now. As always, please let me know if you notice anything strange, and have fun!
It’s well worth some downtime, Lemmy 0.19 is a major QoL upgrade. Thanks for giving us some advanced notice though!
Admin not dead confirmed, very cool.
Comes back with the chadest post possible
Fucking legend.
Using relative time to display timezone-agnostic date is brilliant lol
it used to be a standard procedure on reddit.
I’ve never seen Reddit upgrade their Lemmy version 🤔
I hope it happen
Finally, he solved all the issues with synchronization

Thanks a lot for you hard work and commitment!
Thank you, man! I was curious about your absence in the last 2-3 months, but figured there is not really much to do until the BIG upgrade. Thanks for being here, being you! Awesome admin, awesome instance! Thanks for all your work!
FYI, if anyone had 2fa it will be disabled after this upgrade and you’ll have to do it again.
Thanks for all the hard work you all do!
Finally, I can block hexbear now!
I will miss you.
I had to log out and back into the Memmy app.
Hexbear.net, now blocked✅
Thanks god
Lmao same here
Oh dang, is that still federated with you guys?
Yep, lemm.ee doesn’t defederate so aggressively. This isn’t in support of tankie groups though, if anything it’s in spite of feelings towards hexbear.

LETS GOOOOO
Keep calm and lemm.ee on.
Time for another donation!
Question: will this affect our ability to upload pictures?

Seems like a lot of servers are upgrading today.
Well, the update came out on Friday so that tracks. Besides, this update comes with a whole db shake up (took about 30min on my one user instance) so it makes sense to do it over the week end.
Since the upgrade to v19 I’ve noticed the all applications and web site seem to be very very slow to initially launch and return subscription and user info.
This is happening in both Voyager app, Thunder, web site default and web alexandrite.
Is anyone else experiencing similar issues?
Yes, I am seeing it across multiple Lemmy apps as well. It has made it virtually unusable for me.
