@fediverse I’ve come to learn my federated timeline is only those followed by others on my instance. Is there a way I can explore the entire fediverse?
@TammyGentzel No. The closest you’re gonna get is a federated timeline on a big instance like Mastodon.social
But nothing has everything. By the very nature of the fediverse, it can’t.
@goatsarah @TammyGentzel The mobile app @MonaApp allows you to explore other servers timelines, that might help you fill some gaps you’re feeling.
tooot (the Chinese app with the third o) loads the comments from the instance of the author of the original post which is quite nice, but a little buggy. Fedilab (Android only) supports tabs for home timelines for different instances which is quite nice.
@soflaadmin @goatsarah @MonaApp Thank you!
Why would you want this? If you want to see posts from someone, you can follow them.
@singpolyma If they are not connected to my instance in some way, I cannot see them. If I cannot see them, I cannot follow them. I would like to learn about people who are not connected to my instance. So, I asked if there is a way to do that.
@TammyGentzel @fediverse @ajsadauskas Beware, your head might explode. :)
You can use a relay. That would give you more visibility on the fediverse but not the whole fediverse. It also consumes a whole lot of resources.
@TammyGentzel@awscommunity.social @fediverse@lemmy.ml
https://fedi.tips/which-posts-and-accounts-can-i-see-from-my-server/It seems that the timeline is influenced by those that are being followed, and those that are following. Basically, you have to follow a lot. :akko_why:
