This video sparked a wave of harassment against the Pop OS devs. Which certainly was not the intent of anyone involved in the video.

I feel like I probably don’t need to say it on Lemmy, but I will. PSA: No matter who’s actual fault the problem Linus showed in this video was, be it the devs, package maintainers, or Linus himself, it’s not an excuse to harass or send hate messages to anyone. Period.

I had hoped the linux community was alot more mature then that but sadly not, I’m honestly pretty disappointed

As a full time Linux user I have had issues similar to Luke’s but Linus’ issues are a total WTF.

The PopOs bork was epic, and not his fault. Aside from that, his setup is really exotic. They insist on doing stuff by themselves, as a regular user. But Linus has a millionaire tech bro setup. It’s anything but regular. Mix that with a very “windows power user” mind set and he’s gonna have lots of issues. Looks like a fun and fair series though.

I like this coverage. Been using Linux since the 90’s. Like someone else stated his setup is not typical but his findings are still valid. I think he should have updated/upgraded after the initial install and then installed apps. That’s what we do at work and at home when it comes to POP OS.

to be honest the only atypical thing about his setup is running everything through the thunderbolt connection, his hardware is as common as it gets, with the only possible pain point being NVIDIA

interesting to see youtube channels having a proper story line. a hero’s journey history isn’t particularly original but it’s certainly above a script-less story
