A refreshed version of the Deck has just been announced. What are your thoughts? I guess I’m quite disappointed they didn’t really upgrade the performance

This is the refresh I was looking for. I didn’t really care for more oomph, I care more about thermals and battery so this is right up my alley. But the question then becomes whether the discounted 1.0 model is appealing versus the refresh starting at $549. Good chance I’ll swing OLED but we will see.

That’s exactly what I ended up doing. The prices on the refurbished models were too good to pass up

Unlike console games that developers build down to in development, PC hardware does have more need to up its specs regularly.

There should have been a gpu upgrade here, in more than the power/thermal efficiency that comes with shrinking the fab process. Oled is nice, but not worth purchasing an entire new unit for existing owners, especially considering it is already on the precipice of being unable to run any new AAAs with any amount of optimization.

Buying the equivalent of a gtx 950/1050 in 2023, and those are the highest comparisons, many peg it’s benchmarks lower, just isn’t an awesome idea.
