I would rather people don’t use it at all if you don’t mind and I gladly censor myself when it comes to other slurs. I can’t convey the mental anguish and self hatred that I’ve suffered all because of an immutable characteristic of my sexuality. You can treat it lightly because you haven’t gone through that suffering. It’s one thing for someone to make fun of you for kicks. It’s quite another for entire groups of people to hate you because of what you are.
A little bit of cultural linguistics going on really. Even though the texts are also calling OOP gay and queer, and doing so with the same amount of vitriol as with the f-slur, they aren’t recognized as emotionally charged in the same way. All the other cursing is not hate speech per se as it’s not directly targeting any immutable characteristics.
I’m not happy with any of the depicted harassment in the image (fake or not), it just not that funny. If you want to see what happens if you have a descenting opinion though, you can see my massively downvoted post below.
Depends on the reason for the quote. Awareness campaigns quote them as examples of what not to do. There is a clear intention to tell the audience “Watch out for this, avoid it, this is wrong.”
The punchline in this example is an encouragement to harass people because it’s funny.
Why is faggot censored?
Because it’s a hateful slur unless you’re talking about a bundle of sticks.
Or a packet of cigarettes
I think you meant “fags”. Not quite the same word.
So?
You obviously haven’t had it used against you as a call to violence have you?
No, I got called other words. Not banning them either. The R word is our word.

I’d rather people use it a lot, specifically to mean a man suffering from toxic femininity
Because it breaks Rule 1
What about all the other bad words…

This is a civilized society. We have rules you know

Is it doubling in size?
OP isn’t using it. He’s quoting someone else using it.
Then it breaks Rule 5:
That’s ridiculous, quoting harassment is in no way itself harassment. That would undo just about every awareness campaign ever.

I don’t buy into the concept of hate speech.
I’m curious, what exactly does this mean? Wdym by hate speech, and are you saying it doesn’t exist?
