    Sleep as Android!

You can make it device administrator and additionally add a max snooze count and a dismissal CAPTCHA. When I REALLY have to get up no matter what, I need to go physically touch my phone to an NFC tag in the living room. Can’t even turn the phone off because it blocks that when ringing when given admin access.

It’s location based. It gives you an option to turn off if you are not in you home location. Unless you explicitly disable that clause.

Yup! There are levels of fucked up. At the basic level, if it’s accidentally set to override location check, there are easy solutions like force closing the app, uninstalling the app, turning off the phone.

Mind you, the app knows you force closed it. So it will let you know next time if you want to go to next level of strictness.

At the highest level of fuck up, you can provide admin access so that switching apps and physical buttons are all disabled. So you best bet would be to let the battery drain out and somehow muffle the speakers.

There is also another “fun” captcha. You pledge a small amount of money. If you don’t wake up, the money gets donated to fund sleep-related research.

AMdroid is similar, bunch of different task and puzzle options you can set for your future self to solve before you can turn the alarm off. I usually do math problems, just difficult enough that I need to be at least 90% conscious to actually solve them.

come morning time I hate the app with a passion, but it’s just the kick in the ass I need sometimes

I accidentally set it to extreme hard difficulty once (250 sheeps). It was a horrible morning that day

Mood. Worst part is, if I set this many, I’ll wake up before the first one goes off. Every time.

If I set a normal amount of alarms, or god forbid no alarms, I’m not waking up for hours past when I should’ve.

I mean tbh, waking up naturally shortly before your first alarm is MUCH better than being woken up in the middle of deep sleep by your alarm. I always feel 10x better when I wake up shortly before my alarm as opposed to being pissed off that my alarm is going off in the middle of my precious sleep.

Yup, I learnt a long time ago just to get up if it’s <30 min till the alarm hits. I might be tired, but I’ll be more tired if I push it.

        Okay, maybe <15.

I’ve got an alarm app on my phone, that requires me to solve 3 math problems to stop ringing. Then it waits 10 minutes and a message pops up for me to confirm that i’m still awake, otherwise it starts ringing again.

That sounds annoying as fuck. So the alarm starts blaring and you have to panic solve 3 maths problems while your room mates yell at you to shut your fucking alarm up

I mean, it is supposed to be annoying, but the alarm turns off temporarily when you start solving the questions. You can also set the difficulty, mine are nothing crazy, just x + y * z . Pretty easy, but hard enough that i can’t solve them while half-asleep.

Keep in mind your alarm is the very first conscious moment of your day, your brain releasing shit loads of cortisol isn’t the best way to set yourself up. Ideally you want to replicate nature if you can. Phillips have a wake up light alarm clock that fades on over time. If you couple this with some bird sounds or relaxing music that fades on after it’s light it’s very easy to wake up. And if you wake up in the cold set a timer on a heater to turn on before you wake up to begin to raise your body temperature.
