That has resulted in the scholarly consensus carrying over until today, plus many places you can’t work, if you deny the existence of Jesus. It would be interesting to see what the consensus is among scholars from Japan, or some other non traditionally Christian country.
It’s mostly due to inertia, because the entire system used to be 100% Christian, historians obviously believed in Jesus.
That has resulted in the scholarly consensus carrying over until today, plus many places you can’t work, if you deny the existence of Jesus.
