Don’t forget to save some cash for the XE, YE, ZE editions that will come out every three years and woo the modding community.

It sounds like this one doesn’t really need patches to be fun, it is in a pretty polished state on day 1. Which is weird for a Bethesda game.

He talked a lot about his experience and feelings (and that’s great!) but I wish he went a bit more into actual mechanics. How “RPG-like” is the game, do choices and builds matter or do you just stack stats and better gear? How is the enemy scaling? What are the build archetypes, if any? Other outlets said the exploration is a bit lacking, so is the settlement building complex enough to carry the game on its own or are we going to have to wait a few years until we get “sim settlements” or something?

It definitely looks like a purchase for me down the line but I still can’t tell what kind of demographic is the game actually aimed at, if that makes sense. Is the focus exploration? Basebuilding? Story? Or is it really everything a bit but nothing in specific?

I have little doubt that it will be a fantastic game, and even less doubt that modders will take it to another level. The biggest travesty so far still seems to be the lack of space archery. Especially with the modular weapons I feel a high tech compound bow would’ve been such a cool addition.

Gotta make sure the arrows still exist at distance though, unlike skyrim where you can put an arrow through someone and do 0 damage because you were slightly too far away.

That happens in Skyrim? But I remember videos of people suing fast travel after shooting from really far a way, like crazy away and then the arrow arriving where they fast traveled. Which fascinated me as I didn’t expect the game to track it.

I listed to a few reviews and my takeway is that it delivers on what was promised, but in like a ‘you get used to it’ kind of way. It’s been a while since I put on a let’s play maybe I’ll pop those in for a couple hours. The youtube reviewers seemed afraid to have strong opinions, a LOT of qualifying statements.

Maybe because it’s so big it’s harder to review

This looks exactly like the tepid diarrhea I expected for 200 million dollars from 500 developers. It’s a miracle how everything MS touches becomes tainted, if someone told me that Arcane would be offering Redfall, I’d have refused to believe it.

I fucking hate that they bought out one of my favorite devs and refuse to share. Fuck Microsoft, I’m even less inclined to buy their trash now.

Oh shut up, it’s releasing day one on Steam. Show me a first party game that is also releasing on a different marketplace on Day 1. Quit crying. It’s not like they are forcing you to buy an Xbox.

Or shit if you really wanted you could even just buy a month of gamepass and stream it to your TV/phone.
