Having been to Kenya a few times, it’s definitely an uphill battle for atheists. In some ways they are (or were) ahead of the US. They leapfrogged over their lack of infrastructure using mobile phones to do alot of things that I hadn’t even seen being done in the US, they’ve embraced technology, but culturally it’s like they’re in the 50s almost. Just very traditional and conservative, religion and prayer everywhere, not much room for atheists there.
