    If it’s an iPhone, something went weird with the exif orientation and non-Apple apps several months ago. Photos I sent on chat apps or posted on reddit started showing up sideways… cropping the photo a tiny bit makes it work right. No clue why this is.

      It’s a bug in pict-rs, the image server used in Lemmy.

      It tries stripping away the tags on uploaded images, so that you can’t doxx yourself with location tags, but it can fail to recognize image formats and if that happens all tags are stripped instead of all tags but the rotation tag.

      I sent the dev a fix like a month ago but no response.
