Yeah my next gaming computer is a full AMD one and if I need a new laptop, it’s also going to be AMD.
I hate NVIDIA because of their anti-competition antics and pricing Intel has just… stopped innovating and leeches off American tax payer money while paying their high ranking executives
Almost as if requiring a whole new platform every single generation might make it harder to sell upgrades, I dunno…
Intel should add a top processor for each Core Ultra level without e-cores and watch how those sell. Yes, AMD is whipping them on performance, but having 2 architectures together is not helping. Make 3 processors without any e-cores in the die.
Maybe just maybe Intel… You should consider sticking to the same socket for a longer period and generally increasing the long term value proposition. Especially considering the amount of stagnation that came from your company in the desktop space.
My wife worked there some years ago, around when they started to fall behind AMD. Her team was a research unit looking into how to improve AI performance, and the entire business unit got laid off. Very smart move to trim any chance of pulling back ahead through R&D.
That’s what happens when accountants gain control of publicly traded companies, they see only cost centers that look like a black hole on a spreadsheet, but provide delayed, but massive unaccounted benefits for the rest of the company’s operations.
Boeing
and this was happening while they were buying back their own stock?
Hmmm as if there was criminal misconduct at play here
More like MBA conduct … number must go up now!!! Not later, now!!!
Intel fucked themselves with their latest chip issues. I’ve been building computers for 20+ years, always with Intel chips, but I’m going AMD next time because of all the BS I’ve been dealing with since installing a 14th gen i5.
So you were sticking with Pentium 4 when Athlon was crushing it?
AMD has been better than Intel more than once.
I live near a Microcenter. 🥹
Similar boat. When I had just gotten new PC, the whole fiasco with their Intel chips crashing PCs happened. I was agitated that, I had gotten Intel. So if I ever get another PC, it’ll be with AMD.
It’s not just gamers either - I recently got a new job and all our work laptops have AMD processors, which I was pretty surprised to see.
I absolutely love my 9700x.
At the bone stock 65W TDP, it runs incredibly cool and is a nice performer. 105W TDP is now officially supported as well, which gives you even better performance and it still runs cooler than any major player from Team Blue.
At this point I’d rather have efficiency rather than push for those few extra frames with Intel and need hundreds of bucks more in cooling hardware and power draw.
9700x here as well, for the price I got it at $220 it’s a steal. I’m just baffled people are still buying the 7800x3d at $350-400 used/new. Pretty sure I might get 2-4 frames more with my setup (7900xtx) but that’s not worth it to me for the extra cash spent. More power to AMD for knocking it out of the park though.
That’s about what I paid for mine as well. Feels like I stole it for how it benchmarks. Last gen x3d is definitely overpriced in comparison.
Yea you get yours from the Newegg sale that was like one day? I thought the 7800x3d was gonna drop in price that day and almost didn’t buy mine. Glad I did now.
