House Republicans are debating whether to focus impeachment efforts on Attorney General Merrick Garland after Speaker Kevin McCarthy (R-Calif.) suggested an inquiry against him, taking some members by surprise after much of the GOP impeachment furor had been directed at other Biden officials.

I love that they’re not even hiding the fact that they’re just on an impeachment rampage and are still sorting out who.

When Trump was impeached (both times) the GOP clearly established that for them guilt or innocence has nothing to do with the process. They made it clear that only political affiliation mattered. The next logical step is to begin impeaching people just for doing something they don’t like. Or even for just being on the other side of the aisle.

What i think a lot of people haven’t entirely gotten their heads around yet is that the GOP isn’t just pushing limits. They have completely rejected the concept of the rule of law. Exploiting the system in every possible way is not a side effect; it’s the whole point.

The purpose of a law is irrelevant. They will twist it to serve them if they can and they will ignore it if they can’t.

As previously stated on that other site, by more than a few commenters, the GOP is, “in it to win it at all costs.” That’s why Biden and the Democrats need to wake the fuck up and DO SOMETHING that demonstrates that they’re aware of this fact, and are taking steps to counteract the GOP moves.

Biden and Democrats are doing a lot. They are both obeying the law and trying to protect the rule of law. You know what actively hurts democrats? Comments that imply that they aren’t doing it. Comments putting “SOMETHING” up in caps, while being blithely ignorant of all the concurrent herculean efforts.

So let me turn it around: what have YOU done to help the rule of law and to protect our country (and the world)? We all play a role - whether it is in stopping shitting on Democrat efforts, or getting your buddy to the polls, or contacting your congresspeople (federal and state), or volunteering in many other ways.

I vote for candidates that represent my views and hopes for a better future for all. I also donate to out-of-state candidates to help them win seats.

I also organize and participate in protests around the country to shed light on, and give voice to, important issues.

I’m also allowed to be critical of the failures of my party to proactively protect the democracy I care about.

You also don’t know me, at all, to be able to state what you think I know or what I imply by my statements.

Claiming that Democrats and the Biden administration are unaware of the threat to democracy that is the modern GOP does not match reality. They talk about this a lot, and there have been lots of things they’ve done to deal with the problem.

No no no you don’t get it, if we just remain on our high horse and keep the white gloves on, if we just say please a few more times, they’ll finally stop acting like fascist children! We can’t do something or the moderates might think we’ve gone too far by actually doing something and we’ll lose them to the childish fascists.

“Inaction is positive action!” -some moron probably.

The problem is if you play their games like they play them you legitimize everything. If you start cheating like they do, their lies about you become truth and it’s all down hill from there.

The only chance the country can be saved is if the electorate wakes up. Part of the country still playing by the rules allows us to be able to go back to all of the government playing by the rules. If they give up on that, there is no coming back.
