Google has reportedly started rolling out the new battery charging limit feature to Pixel phones with the latest November update.
Oh, that’s good to see. I’ve had it for about a year now with lineage OS, but I’m not sure if that’s because it was an Android feature or because lineage added it. But I’m guessing that lineage added it.
The state of modern technology is so unhinged that not only has it been a basic feature of the core operating system for almost a decade, enabling it on any device that doesn’t intentionally break the feature is literally just creating a specific text file with the desired charge limit as an integer.
echo "80" > /sys/devices/platform/google,charger/charge_stop_level
I wish we owned the things we bought. 🙃
Why would you want to own the stuff you buy? Imagine the overwhelming burden of ownership crushing you and you won’t feel that way anymore.
You’re right, how short-sighted of me. Thank you corporate overlords for saving me the burden of managing your text files for you.
highly anticipated… yea right. pixel phones haven’t done anything highly anticipated for years now.
Not here yet for me, on a 6a. The article mentions the “Settings services app”, but doesn’t suggest which version reveals the feature. Mine is 1.1.0.680923945.sr.
