Can we admit that the amount of classified documents floating around unprotected is concerning no matter who is supposed to be in possession of it?
It wasn’t okay when Clinton did it, it isn’t okay when Trump did it. This is a legal matter, it shouldn’t be partisan.
Can we admit that the amount of classified documents floating around unprotected is concerning
I work with old people who have their passwords printed out on post it notes and click on phishing emails constantly. It’s concerning but not at all surprising that top secret documents are just laying around offices or are being transmitted via unsecured methods.
Can we admit that the amount of classified documents floating around unprotected is concerning no matter who is supposed to be in possession of it?
My biggest concern isn’t the documents that were in possession of other politicians, because while having them unsecured is bad, I’m sure those politicians aren’t having hotel employees storing them in bathrooms unguarded where anyone can get to them.
My biggest concern is the documents specifically handled by Trump.
Who had access to those documents during the 18+ months they were illegally there? Did they share the contents of those documents with anyone? Does Trump still have any? Have any of them been stashed at any of his other properties, or at the properties of his family? Has he sold or shared any of those documents to foreign governments? How much of that information has been compromised? Does NARA even know if there are any documents still missing?
NARA clearly needs to come up with a better system to catalog and track these documents, where they are, and who signed them in and out. But the bigger concern isn’t that or even mishandled documents in general. The biggest concern is this man mishandling these documents, because this specific person is infinitely more likely to destroy the national security of the US in order to line his own pockets.
