What an odd article and what odd choices. “Among us” against Dead of Winter, the latter game is much more involved than the former and a comparison with any of the werewolf games would be more appropriate. (Although one could argue on if they’re “better”.)
“Dead by Daylight” and “Betrayal at the House on the Hill” is also odd, also because the former has a more clearly defined ruleset than the latter (don’t get me wrong: I love Betrayal, but it’s more of a shared experience than a game).
Pandemic, the game where your choices don’t really matter because your friends will decide your moves for you.
Also, funny they mention gloomhaven, because the gloomhaven videogame is much more fun to play than the boardgame just due to the setup time you save.
I have to check out Under falling skies. I absolutely adore xcom 2 so in theory it sounds like I would enjoy it. Anybody have any experience with the game?
Im playing under falling skies right now, it has nothing to do with xcom outside of defending earth against an alien threat lmao, the gameplay of under falling skies is more reminiscent of space invaders if anything. The article is pure classic cbr clickbait bullshit.
The only similarity is kind of the base shape and maybe two drops of theme. But it’s still a great puzzle on its own! I really enjoyed it, and if gets a little stale you can pass it on once your done for another 1p to enjoy.
Campaign started pretty easy then got tough fast. Fun references if you’re into similar alien invasion type of media.
There’s an X-com boardgame if you didn’t know: https://boardgamegeek.com/boardgame/163602/xcom-board-game
It also uses an app!
Under falling skies is epic
Under Falling Skies is great, but it’s really more like the old Space Invaders game or even Missile Command and has nothing to do with Xcom other than involving an alien invasion.
It’s a one player worker placement game essentially.
I genuinely believe that Risk Europe and Terra Mystca are better than some strategies games
