Portions of “Mandate for Leadership” read as though the authors did a Control-F search of the executive branch for any terms they deemed suspect and then deleted the offending programs or offices. The White House’s Gender Policy Council must go, along with its Office of Domestic Climate Policy. The Department of Energy’s Office of Clean Energy Demonstrations is a no-no. The E.P.A. can do without its Office of Environmental Justice and External Civil Rights. And the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration should be dismantled because it constitutes “one of the main drivers of the climate change alarm industry.”
The main conservative promise here is to wield the state as a tool for concentrating power and entrenching ideology.
I think that sentence aptly sums up what “Mandate for Leadership” wants to accomplish.
I’m pretty sure that just sums up conservative ideology at least since Nixon.
Is this the closest thing the Republican party has to a presidential platform statement?
Pretty much
Conservatism is cancer. Conservatives are cancerous.
Tribalism (which seems to be the foundation for your entire account) is cancer. Zoom out and recognize that corporatism and globalism are the actual culprit. These demagogues keep the two parties fighting endlessly while they both COLLABORATE in the service of corporate regulatory capture. Obviously one is worse than the other but that is entirely by design. How many DNC members voted against war (the single biggest polluter) lately?
Firstly, the antisimetic dog-whistle of “gLoBaLiSm” is grotesque. Trump, Fox News and Conservative AM Radio have been demonizing “globalism” and using it as a dog-whistle for Judaism for the last two decades. Casually tossing that into a deflection/defense of conservatism reveals the bad faith nature of your position.
Secondly, every progressive on Lemmy already knows the enemy is corporatocracy. That’s why progressives are opposed to the neoliberals in the DNC. Neoliberals are conservatives. They are also the majority of the DNC.
Which brings us to point number three. When you equate the DNC to progressives, you again reveal the bad-faith position of your comment. The DNC is not a progressive party. We do not have a viable progressive party in the U.S. We have a conservative party and more conservative party. Conservatives, including the neoliberals in the DNC, are funded by corporations and billionaires. Progressives do not accept such funding and proactively seek to undo corporatocracy. Progressives and conservatives are not the same. The two sides are, in fact, quite opposed.
So, let’s see if we’ve covered your post thoroughly… Classic globalism deflection? Check. Classic both-sides attempt? Check. Defense of conservatism based on these two bad-faith positions? Check. Bonus points for showing a non sequitur graphic of Swedish Parliament while talking about U.S. politics? Check.
Huh?
Are you doing a bit right now?
I’m a Marxist. What kind of wacko thinks that boiling the oceans with shipping ((globalism) is “an antisemitic dog whistle?“
What are you even on about?
I’m going to stop replying to you now.
You are a very unserious person.
What kind of wacko thinks that boiling the oceans with shipping ((globalism) is “an antisemitic dog whistle?“
To answer your question, here’s a link to the Anti-Defamation League description of the term “globalist”.
From the ADL site:
“White supremacists and other antisemites frequently use the term as an antisemitic dog whistle…”
“Antigovernment extremists also use the term globalist, usually without the antisemitic connotations, in references to conspiracy theories about the ‘New World Order.’”
