I might go that direction too. It seems far more mature. Last I checked komga didn’t have ebook support which was a must, but it seems that’s changed recently.
I haven’t really needed them much, but I’ve had good experience with imgbb.com
None that I’m aware of. I don’t even believe you can get it on the phone (through modified app).
It’s $1, for infinite licenses. Plus you can message him for a free one.
From the text you replied to:
Admittedly, this isn’t always the case
I believe you’re looking for a debate, where I was wanting discussion. Take care.
I love open source in an ethical sense, and I use it to meet all of my media and storage needs. Even my operating system is open source. However, as a consumer, I also value having the best possible experience. Companies can provide better and more refined experiences in many ways, often by leveraging their deep pockets.
I don’t mind paying for services that offer great value or save me time. The problem that most companies face, though, is that I expect them to respect both me and my privacy.
If we were to eliminate privacy infringements from proprietary software and make it open source, it would often become best-in-class within the open source community (e.g., Photoshop, Microsoft Office, etc.). Admittedly, this isn’t always the case, but all of this is to say that there can be arguments in favor of providing a service that respects the end user and their privacy, which warrants further discussion.
If it wasn’t Meta, I would almost be okay with this. If I genuinely believed that my privacy was being preserved, I think it’d be a fair trade.
I totally agree. It doesn’t make any sense at this price. I just wanted to share it, and see what other people thought about it.
Think of it as different home screen. I personally like it, because the original home screen was slow and bloated with things I didn’t care about. I just want it to launch Plex, YouTube, Jellyfin, etc.
That sucks, I’m mostly a desktop user, so that’s unfortunate to know.
Yeah, I just post things that I find and like, or find interesting. Lol I only have a few internal rules, like:
Something worth mentioning is that android auto will not work for graphene. I was so on board until that. It’s understandable why that’s the case though.
Yeah, this community doesn’t seem very vocal. I think when I posted this I had less than 50 subs to the community as well, which probably plays a big hand in it.
Luckily though, this is a cross post and the original seemed to have more eyes than here.
Im glad you found it!
I’ve done it for the pride and accomplishment mostly lol I thoroughly like being able to choose what apps I use to access music.
I also bounced around from service to service, so having a nice home base is awesome, and there is a ton of music that wasn’t ever able on Spotify that I can now listen to.
Although the process is a bit hands on now, I appreciate looking through YouTube/bandcamp to deliberately listen and discover. The intention behind it really makes it feel more organic than relying on an algorithm/influencer playlists
I have my own server, but I could never escape discovery. It’s equally as important as sitting down and listening to an album for me.
I’ve supplemented discover with YouTube/bandcamp. I add the music to playlists/wishlist and periodically buy from them.
What an amazing hobby! I’m sorry it turned into a what it did. I’ve had this experience countless times.
Every time I want to start anything, my brain always blows it up into something so grand, that I no longer enjoy doing that thing. The processes become so tedious, that I become burnt out on the journey to become “the best”.
I’m having to put a lot of work to keep this community simple. I can still feel the creep of wanting to do more, like learning how to build a bot for auto summaries, etc. For now, it’s all good here though.
That’s actually pretty good, assuming it’s not degenerate.
For relevance on how rare it is, there are only 43 known people of that have it. They have to donate their blood to themselves when they’re healthy every year, so they have it, if they need it.
That really sucks, I’m sorry. Hopefully it’ll rollout globally.
It entirely depends where you live. You can pay certain organizations for blanket rights to most songs and it’s extremely expensive.
Some options if you still want to broadcast are:
Currently I opted to put everything behind a password and only use it for myself. Once I’m more confident on building solid programming, I might look into starting a station for local and small artists with their permission.
