A contrarian isn’t one who always objects - that’s a confirmist of a different sort. A contrarian reasons independently, from the ground up, and resists pressure to conform.
That’s pretty dishonest summary of what I said. Nobody is selling anything here.
There are valid reasons to restrict the visibility of your content to registered users.
I post nudes on a certain site, where I have the ability to choose who can see my pictures. The options are: everyone, friends, registered users, and VIP members (paid subscription). Nearly all of my pictures are set to be visible only to registered users, with the spicier ones restricted to VIP members. My reason for this has nothing to do with trying to force people to create an account, let alone pay for a subscription. I have no illusions about my content being completely safe from outsiders. I simply want to create a small amount of friction to prevent complete randoms from easily accessing my content when they have no personal investment in the site. I see putting myself out there as the price I pay for free access to everyone else’s profiles. If you want to see my pictures, I expect you to do the same. I’m taking the risk of potentially being recognized - I expect you to take that risk too.
I think the idea with carbon capture is mostly that you power it with the excess you’re getting from renewables. Finland for example has so much wind turbines that when it’s windy they produce much more energy than the country consumes. In moments like this it makes sense to put this energy into something like carbon capture or hydrogen production.
That fucking pink stick has ruined so many otherwise good videos.
For me, the first telltale sign is showing face. The second is the colorful background.
I’m one of the people still posting quite high cuality content of myself online for completely free (I’m a guy) I do it because I’m exhibitionist. I like being seen in minimal clothing in public as well, this is just a variation of that.
I’ve been a member on a website that’s quite well known in my country for over 15 years. It’s like adult Facebook where people post nudes and it’s all free.
Recently however people have more and more started using it for advertising their OF and what I find funny/interesting is how I can tell most of these profiles simply by looking at their pictures as they always have this certain “onlyfans look” to them.
I’ve never used OF myself but the feeling I get from these profiles is that it’s way too obvious that they’re doing it for the money. There’s a completely different vibe to someone’s profile who just wants to show off because it’s exciting to them.
Besides listening to podcasts, browsin Lemmy/Reddit is the only entertainment I ever use my phone for.
